This was the first time to stay in Freshwater and we selected a real gem in the property which was full of character, but Sarah our host was an absolute delight, she made us feel welcome throughout our stay and was so helpful. The breakfast was amazing and so many homemade delights from granola, jams, marmalade, honey . The cooked breakfast was fabulous with locally selected produce. Sarah also recommended delightful places for evening meals. We arrived from the mainland weighed down by the stresses of life and left fully relaxed. Would we stay again, of course.

This is a lovely chalet in a great location for exploring the Isle of Wight. It is clean and decorated in a modern style. It's like a tardis and is actually much bigger and nicer on the inside than you think from the outside appearance. It would comfortably sleep 4 and the little extras like the coffee machine were much appreciated. We have stayed here twice and will no doubt be back again.
Temperance is located in Freshwater, 26 km from Osborne House, 4.8 km from The Needles Old Battery, and 5.4 km from Hurst Castle.

The location is excellent and a good starting point for cycling and walking. The apartment is spacious for two people and is well-equipped. With the windows open, you're close enough to hear the waves on the shore.

Jo was an excellent host. She was really helpful and keen for us to enjoy our holiday. The location was perfect; right on the costal path. The views of the sea from the sitting room and bedroom were mesmerising. You could roll out of the front door straight onto the beach. We loved the beach house and enjoyed a BBQ outside it in the sunshine. The accommodation had everything you might need and was spotlessly clean and comfy.

Friendliness of the hosts; peaceful location - off the beaten track so nice and quiet. Accessible for us as non-car users - we had to use buses to get here from Ryde, and to visit other places around the Island - we had no problems. The 15-20 minute walk from Totland War Memorial bus stop (it got shorter as we got used to the route!) was OK for us - even on the one day it was raining all the way from the bus stop we didn't get too wet. And it was not a problem to walk back to the B & B in the dark, as we didn't need to do that until we had already walked back from the bus stop several times in the daylight. Loved the chance to see the red squirrels feeding in the garden - an unexpected bonus not anticipated before we arrived and were told to look out for them. We enjoyed eating at the Highdown Inn (just round the corner from the B & B so easy to get back home in the dark) - staff and customers there were all very friendly (and when it was busy the sfaff worked their socks off!) and also enjoyed the Waterfront restaurant location and food (although the service was a bit patchy).

The town centre is away from the beach. There is an excellent cafe about 5mins walk away. It is The Piano cafe and I can highly recommend it.
The Dimbola is an interesting museum and also has a good cafe but it gets very busy.

Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected.
Only downside was the weather but that was to be expected. Many things were closed or had limited access due to poor weather and flooding, again this down to nature, not human failure. Loved the Isle and so much to visit and see. Locals very friendly and you feel safe there, a lovely atmosphere everywhere.

TIPS: Take an eye mask for sleeping if you prefer sleeping in after 5 am!
There is a super pizza van across the road - highly recommend - check for opening times. The same applies to a Travelling Bar on a bus it is situated close to the beach - 5 mins walk.
If you like good coffee - take your own Nespresso machine (we did!)

You don't go to Freshwater Bay for attractions, it is quiet and a bit run down, but there are other seasides close. Really great attractions like Alum Bay, The Old Battery, Tennyson Down, Yarmouth etc. are close by. Interesting town centre which is long and has individual shops, places for coffee, fish and chips etc as well as several major supermarkets.
Clean tidy and spacious accommodation. Very well equipped with everything you need. Light and airy the decor seemed new and modern. Great location 5 minutes from the beach and a small park, prefect if you like walking with the coastal path very close by, great walks to Yarmouth and the Needles. For a special occasion why not book a meal at The Hut, 5 minutes away on the beach front, pricey but well worth the experience, book early. The Red Lion in Freshwater is well worth a visit also, friendly pub dining.
The bungalow is airy, spacious, very well kitted out - even trays provided to carry food outdoors to eat - and situated in a peaceful lane, 10 minutes walk from the Bay, overlooking a field. There are plenty of places - front and back - to choose from to sit outside. A well-stocked corner shop is 5 mins walk away.
The care which Carol and Brian take to ensure that EVERYTHING is spotlessly clean meant we had no health and safety concerns in this current Covid climate.
Brambles Kip had everything we needed for a lovely week's holiday; it was modern, clean and comfortable. It has great views of sky and sea - and a lovely wooden table and large window to see them from - or garden chairs out the front. It is in a brilliant spot, with walks both ways along the coast; and a private beach below the cliffs to swim in. It's close to shops in Freshwater, and great pub meals in Yarmouth. The site itself has outdoor play stuff for kids.
Our stay in Freshwater was greatly enhanced by the care and attention provided by Sarah. The breakfasts were imaginative as well as delicious and Sarah's local knowledge invaluable in preventing us from getting lost on our walks. Stroud House is an interesting property full of items which were exactly to our taste. This is not your regular B&B and would suit those who are happy to settle themselves into accomodation that provides interest and comfort.
The host (Sarah) was friendly, attentive and very helpful offering a range of recommendations to help us with our first visit to the Isle of Wight.
A true delight to talk to and an even better cook as you find with the sublime breakfast that is provided each morning.
The house was beautiful and felt like a home away from home. Comfortable, clean and spacious you are able to unplug and wind down in any of the rooms at Stroud House.
A stunning character house with fabulous grounds and in a great location, a short walk to Freshwater Bay. The Cosy Wolf, was a fantastic place for a few days to relax. Our room was comfy and cosy and we had a fan.
Lena was an exceptional host, very friendly and her breakfast were enough to last the whole day, with fresh fruit and yoghurt and a great choice, including her lovely homemade cakes.
Would love to visit again.
Rockstone cottage is perfectly located close to the gorgeous Colwell Bay and The Hut restaurant. The beds were super comfy and every morning we were served the most incredible breakfast! Denise, the host, was lovely and helpful and we even got to meet her gorgeous dog Nelson (don't worry - he doesn't roam the place if you don't like dogs and we didn't hear him once). We would not hesitate to stay here again!
For a family of four with two small children it was perfect. The swimming pool was great, the location, the soft play and the accomodation. Excellent value. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Accommodation was very toasty. Perfect location for exploring the beautiful Isle of Wight. Cosy beds, well equipped kitchen and soft towels. Walking distance to the beach. We had a great stay in the depths of winter.
Great location near Freshwater, an amazing cottage, well presented and very clean, we were met by the owner Will who showed us to the property, a bottle of champagne and orange juice was a nice welcome, this is a 13th century cottage and the beams are very low, and the cottage has the quirks of a building befitting its age. You can get to most of the island in 25 minutes so it’s a great base.
The accommodation is very comfortable, the seatee, beds etc the TV is really good. A real home from home.
Lorna the host is really helpful and answers very quickly. The place is situated close to freshwater bay which is lovely.. it is a slow walk 10-15 mins car 3 mins. We have been before and hope to go back later in the year.
I am delighted to have stayed at Tollgate Cottages. Very high standards of cleanliness, furnishings and equipment throughout. Lovely breakfast to set us up for the day. Very quiet location with extensive garden and views. I would be very happy to return to Tollgate Cottages any time.
The house had everything we needed. Beds were super comfortable and 12 minutes walking distance to store and ~12 minutes walking distance to Freshwater Bay. The property management company was extremely accommodating and responded promptly to messages. Nice, quiet neighborhood.
Really quiet and perfectly located at a nice walking distance from Freshwater and Totland Bay. We booked it relatively last minute and got a great deal. Our hosts were very kind. We arrived earlier in the day and could still leave our luggage in our room. Thank you!
Well thought out accommodation. Bijou.
Very clean. Great shower. Tasty and plentiful breakfast. Perfect location for us in Freshwater. Easy walk to the beach and to the towns shops and cafes. Carol is a lovely friendly and helpful host. Hope to return again.
Excellent location close to the most scenic area and hiking trails on the Isle of Wight. Stand alone well furnished The host, Carol, was the best - very helpful. Great large breakfast served in the room.
The cosy flat, lovely setting near Freshwater Bay. Very friendly host Jane, wealth of local knowledge. Thoroughly recommend Baker's Retreat for a relaxing break on the IOW.
Great location, and the house is equipped extremely well, and so aesthetically pleasing. Smooth check-in and the beach is right there. Accessible by public transport too!
